Equipment:
Dummy with legs weighing approximately 150 lbs. and 24 ft. ladder, all to be furnished.
Procedure:
1. Five (5) firefighters behind start line with ladder. At signal, four (4) firefighters
lift ladder and run to platform. Fifth firefighter must wait behind start line until
ladder touches platform. (The platfrom is four (4) sections of scaffolding.)
2. Ladder is raised with the base between the two safety lines 4 ft. and 6 ft. from
the plumb line, secured by two (2) firefighters.
3. Three (3) firefighters climb the ladder. No more than two (2) firefighters may
be on the ladder at one time.
4. When the third firefighter touches the top rung, he/she is given the dummy,
he/she descends the ladder and carries the dummy accross the finish line, 50 ft.
from the platform.
5. Third firefighter must receive the dummy at the top of the ladder.
6. Straps and ropes permitted on the ladder.
Penalties: 10 seconds per violation
1. If the dummy touches the ground prior to crossing the finish line.
2. If the ladder is out of the safety lines.
3. If the third firefighter does not touch the top rung or begins descending the
ladder before receiving the dummy.
4. If the third firefighter starts before the ladder hits the platform or if three (3)
firefighters are on the ladder at the same time.
5. Firefighters not touching the bottom rung.
