EFFICIENCY - STATE RULES
Equipment:
Three (3) sections of 1-½ or 1-¾ inch hose rolled in a single donut roll with the male end in. One (1) nozzle. One (1) section of 2-½ inch line hooked to the discharge of the engine with a gated wye attached to the discharge side of the hose. 2-½ inch hose will be charged to a safe pre-determined pressure. Four (4) softballs placed on secure cones of varying heights.
Procedure:
1. The Engine discharge pressure will be preset to 100 PSI.
2. Five (5) firefighters behind start line. Gated wye also located behind start line.
Three (3) sections of hose and nozzle laced on ground 50ft. in front of the start
line. Four (4) targets spread 10 ft. apart at varying heights 175 ft. in front of the
start line.
3. At signal, five (5) firefighters must connect all three (3) sections of hose and
nozzle together and connect hose to gated wye.
4. Once all connections are made, one (1) firefighter opens the gated wye.
5. Firefighters advance the charged line and knock each of the targets down.
6. Clock stops when the last target has been knocked down.
Penalties: 10 seconds per violation
1. If water flows through a coupling that is not connected. There is no penalty for
loose connections as long as the connection holds throughout the entire running of
the event without assistance from a firefighter.
2. Jumping the start signal.
3. Knocking the targets down with anything other than the water stream.
