Swift Water Rescue Class
Swift-Water Rescue class was held at the Area 14 Training Center and the Green River Dam Spillway on January 24th and 25th 2009.   There were 23 students on Saturday and Sunday to brave the frigid weather and water.   Instructors Scott Shaw, Marc Myres, Pat Dalyrmple, and Randy Cox conducted very informative classroom sessions, and then directed their students though strategically planned scenarios in the skills portion, which gave the students the necessary knowledge and skills to handle most swift-water incidents.   Special thanks go out to the Army Corps of Engineers for providing the water for our class. Without them we would not be able to conduct this program

Student Comments:
Chad Greathouse – Louisville FD – “I was very pleased with the class – the skills portion and the classroom session. Keep up the good work!”
Chris King – Taylorsville/Spencer Co. FD – “This class was a very good training tool for fire fighters who want to be more involved with water rescue.”
Anonymous – “Strainer drill was one of the best I had seen. I was also impressed with the facilities and hope to return next time.”
Michael Hagan – Elizabethtown FD – “Great hands on learning.   Excellent instructors with plenty of information.”
David Crismon – Louisville FD – “Classroom was informative. Venue with water at the Green River Dam really made the class. 6 /10th can be challenging. Class was well structured, but also had a little bit of freedom.”
